6 easy ways i burn calories without hardly trying
I got thinking the other day about all the little things I try to do daily to burn more calories. I can't always make it to the gym, and sometimes I don't get my workouts in at home either. Just this weekend i wore my gym clothes to take an exam and planned to hit the campus gym afterwards. I got done testing and low and behold. the gym was closed. Online it said i still had an hour before closing but what can you do? So i had a few errands to run, had to take Shad the weed eater, went to my mother in laws to get some plants for my house, and picked up my little man. By the time i got home, fed my baby, pumped, and ate some food I'd pretty much run out of time for anything. We had a birthday dinner planned with our friends and I still hadn't showered for the day. Workout didn't happen because we got home late too and I'd stayed up LITERALLY all night the night before studying for my exam. I was pooped and sleep is important. Especially for those of us who NEED our beauty sleep. Anywho. Here are a few things that I try to do everyday to burn some cals and get my lazy girl fitness in!
-Every time I use the restroom at work I do 20 squats and 20 pushups on the sink. I know what you're thinking, and I know what the people in the stall next to me are thinking. WTF?! Right? :) well who cares. Friday alone I did 100 squats and 40 pushups. Okay, so i only do the pushups when nobody is in there. Then i don't feel quite as stupid. lol.
-ALWAYS take the stairs! I wish I was on the 10th floor instead of the 3rd so I'd HAVE to do more stairs. Stairs burn WAY more calories that standing in those freakishly old elevators. Stairs will do wonders for the legs and butt! On the plus side for me I get to burn calories and avoid those claustrophobic cages. I seriously don't like elevators. The whole cable breaking/falling to my death thing really gets to me....
-Calf raises in the shower or while I brush my teeth. I do 60 total but i change the position of my feet for every 20 reps. 20 with my toes touching and my heels apart, 20 with my heels together and my toes apart, and 20 with my feet straight. trust me. You'll feel the burn if you really squeeze at the top of each rep.
-Butt squeezes and leg extensions at my desk. Yes, I know. You'll look like a tard and be "bouncing" up and down but who cares! Work those bum bums! Luckily I sit next to my bestie and she's used to my weird fitness crap.
-Drink ICE COLD water. Your body will burn calories to warm it up in your belly. This one is the easiest of them all and there's no excuse not to do it because we all need to be drinking H20 anyway. Chug that ice water ladies! Just be careful of brain freeze. Been there done that and.. YOWSA.
-Squeeze and flex those abs tight while you're driving in the car. I drive 30 min to and from work each day, so I do this one a lot. Easy way to get some ab work in!
Those are a few ideas to get you started. I pretty much look for ways to "work out" wherever I am. it will make a difference i promise! Just go for it and be consistent. Consistency is key to any fitness progression.
