DIY sugar scrub and foot soak

I had a couple girlfriends watch my sweet Hunter this week and since neither would let pay them I decided to make them a small thank you gift. I made some sugar scrub and some foot soak! LOVE how easy it is and how cute they turned out. I had a couple supervisors at work fill out references for me for the nursing program this week as well, so I made them one too! Perfect little DIY gift for the ladies!

Here's how I did it.

 ~LAVENDER SUGAR SCRUB~
Ingredients: 1 cup sugar, 1/4 cup coconut oil, lavender essential oil, jar or container of your choice to put scrub in, few drops of food coloring
Step 1: microwave coconut oil for 20 seconds, or until melted.                                 Mine was mostly melted at 20 sec and i stirred it a tiny bit to get it all "liquidy." I used a plastic microwave safe bowl big enough to mix everything. Who wants to dirty and wash more dishes than absolutely necessary?! Not this girl.
Step 2: In the same bowl, combine the sugar and coconut oil until thoroughly mixed. If you think the mix is too dry, add a tiny bit more coconut oil. I prefer my scrub soft and more wet than dry so i don't have to dig hard to get it out of the jar. If you find that your mixture is too wet, add a little bit more sugar until the desired consistency is reached.
Step 3: Add your choice of food coloring and mix well. I chose lavender for my scent so i wanted the color to be purple. I added a couple drops of red and one blue. It takes a lot of mixing at this point but it's worth it! Add more drops and mix until you get that perfect hue.
Step 4: Add your essential oils and mix. I added a few drops, mixed, and smelled to see if i thought the scent was strong enough. I've had a stuffy nose, so i made my husband smell it for me since I couldn't tell how strong it was :)
Step 5: Spoon the scrub into a clean canning jar or container of your choice. I used some Jelly canning jars i got from Walmart.
Now all you have to do it test out your lovely new scrub!

Wet hands slightly, grab a little scrub, rub over hands thoroughly, rinse, and dry. Perfecto. Now you have soft, smelly-good hands! mmm mmm.

~Mint Foot Soak~

Ingredients: 1 cup Epsom salts, 1/2 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup sea salt, food coloring, peppermint essential oil
Step 1: Combine your Epsom salts, sea salt, oil, and baking soda in a bowl.
Step 2: Add a couple drops of the food coloring of your choice. I chose to make mine green since I used peppermint oil. I added 2 drops of green. My green was perfect and minty! Break up the color clumps with a fork until your color is even throughout the mix. I used one of my frosting spatula thingies to mix. Worked like a champ.
Step 3: Add a few drops of your peppermint essential oil (or oil of your choice) and mix the same way.
Step 4: spoon your new foot soak into your canning jar.

I made my own labels real fast in Microsoft Word (see my tutorial on see how easy it is to make similar labels  )

I made my own little thank you tags and grabbed a clear plastic goody bag to put them in. You can get the bags at the dollar store for a pack of like 20. Tied it all up pretty with some twine and Voila! This entire process takes like 20 minutes. Easy peasy lemon squeasy!
